Okay first of all, let me just say that, as you probably already know, the next 2 months are my favorite months of the entire year. There’s just something about Fall that really makes me feel like I’m more alive than every. Dramatic? Maybe? But it’s so true.
Nothing brings me more joy than cooler weather, cozy sweaters, and all things pumpkin.
I know I can tend to be a little much on socials this time of year but I won’t apologize for it lol. I just want everyone to feel the spirit of the season, and in that same sense, I’m using todays post to give you a list of things I’ll be doing this month to celebrate and soak it up. I hope it inspires you to do some fun things to rejoice in the Halloween/Fall season!
And if you’re more of a say, Christmas time, winter holiday type person- just bear with me for a little bit, your time will come soon enough!
Fall Things
+ pumpkin patch!! In addition to visiting our local pumpkin patches, we go to Live Oak every year, it is a bit of a drive but it’s so much fun and totally worth it!
+ apple picking : it might be getting too late in the season for this, so check with the farm you plan to visit first! We’ve been apple picking in Julian and Yucaipa, although I liked Julian better because of their cute, old school downtown area.
+ pumpkin painting night! Get your friends together and/or all the kids for a pumpkin painting night! I actually like painting better than carving, but we’ll see if we do both or just paint this year!
+ decorate your house! If you’re crazy *like me* you can decorate for Halloween for October and then more for Fall for November. My house looks like a haunted mansion of sorts currently, but come November, the spooky decor will be packed up and all the aesthetically pleasing pumpkin and fall-esque decor will be up.
+ throw a Halloween party : okay I’m going to be honest, I’ve wanted to throw a Halloween party for my daughter FOREVER and since throwing our little SUMMERWEEN gathering this past summer, I can’t wait to have her classmates and friends all over for Halloween! That being said, it isn’t happening for me this year lol I’m room mom for my daughter’s class and am coordinating their classroom Halloween party and we are also going to actually be traveling the week of Halloween, so maybe next year for me! I grew up with the type of neighborhood Halloween parties where you bobbed for apples, had scavenger hunts, and costume contests and I just love the idea of being able to throw that type of old school party for my own kids and their friends!
+ Fall to Winter closet clean-out : I actually just did this today! I went through my closet and dressers and put things in donation bags that I no longer want and then also swapped my tank tops and shorts to the bottom of the barrel and moved all my jeans, leggings, and sweaters to the front of the pack! Granted, it’s still like 76* in Orange County currently but I’m manifesting cooler weather!
+ DIY those costumes!! You better believe we’ve started plotting and creating ours!! If you need some inspo, I’ll link some of our past creations below!
- Nightmare Before Christmas (may go down as my favorite costume ever)
- Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, & Wendy (if a simple costume is more your speed)
- Moana, Maui, & Gramma Tala
- Monster’s Inc (a Pinterest and social media favorite! So many of you send me screenshots of seeing this on websites or online, I love it when you do! this might actually be in a tie with NBC)
- Winnie the Pooh & Tigger (for my pregnant girlies!)
- Skeleton Bride & Groom
- Aladdin & Abu
- Cruella de Vil & Dalmatian
+ bake something pumpkin! I’m actually going to try to learn how to make a pumpkin pie from scratch. It’s on my to-do list this season!
Happy Friday everyone! And HAPPY SPOOKY SEASON!
