Pregnancy is something that really alters just about everything in your life. Even day to day activities that seem so mundane change. It’s definitely been an adjustment for me and something that I’ve had to learn to “go with the flow” with. Because trust me, I was driving myself crazy with worry and unnecessary anxiety. If I moved a certain way and something hurt, it worried me that I did something wrong. I found myself googling just about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING before I ate it to make sure it was safe and one night I even sat and searched (for hours) every ingredient in all of my makeup products to make sure they were okay. Which also led me to immediately order a BUNCH of new products that were certified pregnancy safe.
See what I mean? You get stuck in this rabbit hole and it never stops because you want to do everything right to make sure your baby is growing in the most healthy environment possible. When I told my OB about all the research I’d been doing, she really kinda laughed it off and told me that everything she’d told me to avoid in the early months, was really all I needed to watch out for and that everything else in my normal day to day life, was perfectly safe to use. ( I brought a list of makeup ingredients that I was worried about and realized were in my concealer that I’d been using for 5 months at that point). So since then, I’ve really toned it down and have not been driving myself crazy anymore, woo hoo!
While I’m not using my normal face masks or beauty products with retinol in them, I’ve found a few replacements that are getting the job done, in addition to other products that have really come in handy throughout my pregnancy.

I never would have considered my skin-care or make-up products would have an impact on the baby, I only would have worried about what I am eating & drinking (or rather not drinking!). Thank you for sharing. 🙂 xx
