A Honky-Tonk Hoedown!

First, let me start this post off by saying HAPPY OFFICIAL BIRTHDAY MOMMA!!!

Today is my mom’s actual birthday, but over the weekend, my sister and I had the pleasure of throwing her one big surprise party! My mom is from Indiana, and is an avid country fan (as am I), so I couldn’t resist throwing a Hoedown themed party for her! Here are all the details!

Sadly, I didn’t get a picture of our buffet table or dining table, but we used mason jars with white baby’s breath and daisies for center pieces. Table cloths were red and white checkered, linked here! For food, we did pot-luck style, aside from the meats, I had tri-tip and chicken catered from Wood Ranch and then all the guests made a side to bring to the party (mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, buffalo cauliflower, coleslaw- we had it all!)

Backdrop

+ I painted the sign on fabric and then just threw it over the wooden backdrop!

+ red, black, tan, and cow print balloons : the kit came with so many! I only used about half!

+ horse balloons : we had a bunch just sitting around the backyard!

+ cowboy hats : I asked everyone to dress up in their best western gear for the event and ordered these for my mom, my sister, my niece, and I to wear. I bought rhinestones from Michael’s and bedazzled my mom’s to make it a little extra special!

+ photo booth props

Dessert Table

+ desserts : as with every party I throw, my best friend made all the desserts- “cow pies” are chocolate brownies and “bails of hay” are rice krispies! The cow print chocolate cake came out so cute!

+ shooter party favors: we filled the table, and the dining table with cute little shooters which I custom made labels for and ordered mini cowboy hats to fit on top! Linked here!

+ plates and napkins : red paper plates and checkered napkins to match our theme! Plates I picked up at Party City.

+ red and white checkered runner to throw on the BBQ

+ floral arrangements: mason jars filled with baby’s breath and daisies!

+ red solo cups, because talk about on theme!

Music

I created a little Hoedown playlist for the party, full of all 90s throwback country music. I have to say, I’ve still been listening to it in the car! It’s SO good!

Well, it was a great surprise party for my momma and we had the best time! We even flew my niece in from Kentucky to surprise her! It was the best moment of the whole party for sure!
