Just some Hocus Pocus.

Happy Monday friends!

absolutely love this time of year! I have no shame in admitting that I am totally one of those pumpkin obsessed  people. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on my first PSL of the season and then continue to fill every room in my home with a pumpkin scented candle, which will all burn consistently till December. Back home in California, fall was always welcomed by the cold, brisk air and leaves all changing colors. Typically, one weekend was always spent running around these huge, spacious pumpkin patches,  rushing through corn mazes and picking out the best pumpkins for carving.  And while everyone has their lists of “must do fall traditions,” ours has always been carving pumpkins together, making  some type of fall dessert (last year it was homemade pumpkin pop tarts), and watching Hocus Pocus.

My boyfriend is so sick of watching the movie that now a days I have to actually make a deal to watch a scary movie (all of which I loathe) afterwards. So I guess in a way, that’s the new tradition? Something we also always do, is DIY our costumes. And that is actually what we are doing this week, which I will detail about later 🙂 Do you guys have any fall traditions or to do lists? I’d love to hear about them!

We spent this past weekend running around our local pumpkin patch and enjoying some Florida fall weather! I stepped out of the house on Saturday and actually wanted to cry!  I never realized how home sick I actually was until this happened. It felt as if I was back home- there was 0% humidity in the air, the air was comfortable, and the breeze was cool. We actually got home and opened every single window in the house and let the breeze blow in. And they’ve been open ever since! I can’t believe I’m actually saying that while out here in Florida.

I’m hoping this weather sticks around all week and into the weekend for all the Halloween festivities we’ve got planned!

How’s the weather for all of you out there? Enjoyable I hope!

xoxo,

Amanda

PS- I should also mention that we also typically attend Halloween Horror Nights with a group of friends this time of year but I refuse to openly admit that as a tradition and refer to it as torture/ my personal hell.

P.S.S: We finally got to making a pumpkin dessert(a day after posting this), and guess what? My boyfriend actually liked it! He typically isn’t one for pumpkin flavored anything so whatever I do, I usually have to make sure to mix in some cinnamon to tone down the actual pumpkin flavor. But not with this one!

pumpkinloaf

I haven’t decided on what I should call it just yet, it’s basically a dessert loaf with pumpkin puree, cinnamon, and pumpkin spice in-between each slice- making it literal heaven!

Let me know if you guys have any name suggestions or would like the recipe! I definitely recommend trying it out! It isn’t too difficult either!

  1. My husband and I always carve a pumpkin together too! I just bought ours today! This year I am also going to bake some pumpkin seeds and I am excited! A friend brought me some a couple of weeks ago and they were sooo good! I had tried it before, but mine were horrible. I am going to go by her recipe this time. I really need to watch Hocus Pocus….it has been way too long!

  2. I avoid scary movies like a plague, so I haven’t heard of Hocus Pocus haha! But I’ve always wanted to celebrate Halloween the way you guys in the US do – although I’m way too old for that now haha 😀

  3. Me and my fella just carved our pumpkins last weekend. He did a grim reaper, I did a cutsie bat. One of my favorite traditions is sitting around a fire outside. Whether it’s a bonfire or a little campfire, I adore the feeling of a cool breeze on my back and warm, toasty waves of heat hitting my front. 🙂

  4. Call me basic but I’m SUCH a PSL girl too, I may have been first one in line as soon as Starbs started selling them again ha. But regardless I can totally relate my heart gets a little bit more full when I’m surrounded by pumpkins(:
