YOU GUYS. How I didn’t think of this myself is beyond me. Like WHAT. A. GREAT. IDEA.
Over the past month or so, when this whole summerween thing started going viral, I had tons of people sending me different variations of summerween that they’d seen on Instagram or TikTok and I knew I HAD to do my own version.
With Halloween being my favorite holiday and time of year, like it’s a no brainer that throwing a little summer halloween party is right up my alley. So if you haven’t seen the summerween trend, look up the hashtag on any social media app or google it to see what it’s all about!
Because Halloween is my absolute favorite, I didn’t want to throw a total Halloween party in the dead of summer, because really, the vibes aren’t super real unless it’s fall, you know? So I decided to have some fun with my take on the theme.
I typically don’t do a lot of color for my Halloween decor and thought this would be a fun opportunity to add some color and do some brighter decor and play up the summer vibes. What I dreamt up was a SummerWeen Picnic!

My husband did the bbq-ing, not pictured are the giant bowls of sweet potato and regular french fries that we also served. My girlfriend (as always) did all the baking, with some help from my daughter who had so much fun frosting and doing the sprinkles on the cookies!

I’ll link what I can below! The serving trays I bought last summer at Home Goods for my daughter’s Nightmare B4 Christmas birthday party, so I don’t have links for them, but I’m sure you could find some similar options online! The little ghost salsa trays I bought at Home Goods this year!
+ orange/white picnic table cover
+ pumpkin paper plates (also come in pink for a girly take on summerween!)
+ clear plastic cups (I drew the black jack-o-lantern faces on myself with sharpie)
Okay how cute are the little kabobs? I bought mini kabob sticks and then used an edible frosting marker to draw the ghost faces on the marshmallows, stuck about 3 orange cuties slices on and then one strawberry in the middle. They were super easy to make! My girlfriend made THE BEST churro cake! and then the little monster eye cookies! Everything was delicious! For the burgers, I used a sharp cutting knife to cut the ghost and jack-o-lantern faces onto the slices of cheese prior to my husband plopping the cheese on top of the burgers.

So everything I put in the backyard we already had (perks of being a Halloween girlie), except for the little inflatable pumpkins for the pool, which I’ll link here! I threw some big sun hats on my skeleton and pumpkin man and they were good to go! The inflatable pool we bought at Hobby Lobby and it was actually party of my daughter’s Easter Basket last year.

It was so much fun throwing a little summer bbq and I’m 10000% making this an annual thing from now on.
I hope I’ve inspired you to throw a little summerween party to get ready for HALLOWEEN!
