Last month, the author of this wonderful book sent me her children’s book to review. Anything, no matter what it is- cartoon, book, toy, etc, meant for my daughter gets the parent pre-check prior to it being given or watched by Avery. So when the book arrived, of course I read it first to make sure I liked the message and thought it appropriate for my daughter.
Needless to say, it got my stamp of approval! The story is so cute and teaches a very valuable lesson, one that toddlers especially can learn from! Right now, Avery is very much in the “mine, mine, mine” stage and we are actively teaching her to share. I love books and toys that touch on real life lessons we’re teaching her day to day and this book has done just that!
Kids will get to meet Trolly the Troll, a young troll who would rather receive and be given gifts than give them out. Trolly wants, wants, wants and takes without giving anything back. When Trolly finds a magic wand, she starts granting her own wishes, filling her room with toys and dresses and making herself a Queen! She had it all, but nothing made Trolly happy, it isn’t until Trolly realizes that the real key to happiness is helping and sharing her toys with others, that she starts to actually feel happy!
Trolly learns in the end, that no matter how much she has, it doesn’t bring her happiness or fun unless she has friends to share it with. I love the message and being someone who very much believes in fairy tales- the illustrations are so colorful and cute!
If you’re looking to give a great gift in the form of story telling, I cannot recommend this book enough! It would make such a cute additive to a cute princess outfit or doll! Or if you’re shopping for a little boy, throw it in with some dragon and king toys! It definitely will go with the theme!
