Parent Date Day/Night Ideas

If you’re a parent, I’m sure there’s no shortage of people telling you you need to make more time alone for you and your significant other. I’ve heard it from just about everyone – neighbors, coworkers, family members, etc. And while they’re not wrong, my husband and I just would sooo much rather do things where we can include our daughter and keep her with us. It’s honestly just more fun and if doing something together requires leaving her at home with a babysitter, we just would honestly rather not.

Call us crazy, but we became parents because we actually wanted to hang around our kid you know? LOL. That being said, we definitely make a lot of time for each other outside of being mom and dad and here’s our secret: we make plans when Avery is either at school or we’ve already put her down for the night. We’ve done Disney days, concerts, sporting events, just about everything I’m about to list out for you, all while our daughter is sound asleep and/or not missing out on anything!

It’s also easier and less stressful having someone watch your child if you know they’re asleep! My dad has slept on our couch watching Avery on the monitor plenty of times while we’re out and about! We always take him to breakfast the next morning, don’t worry!

+ Disneyland/ Theme Park dates : Duh. Joey and I will go to Disney during the week together for a few hours and it’s always a blast!

+ Concerts/Festivals : Quite literally makes you feel like you’re a kid again! We’ve been to a few concerts after having put our daughter down for the night and they’re always so much fun and really serve as a good flashback to the couple you were before you were mom & dad!

+ Sporting Events : go to a local soccer or baseball game!

+ Gym date

+ Try a new dinner spot!

+ Stay at home and plan a game night after your little ones go down!

+ Puzzle night! Joey says he always ends up doing the entire puzzle, but I disagree 😉

+ Comedy Club : Find a local comedy club and get some tickets! You’re guaranteed to laugh at something!

+ Bowling: you don’t need a huge group to go bowling!

+ Visit a museum/art gallery

+ Spend a night planning a trip together

+ Mini Golf/Foot Golf

+ See a movie!

+ Take a cooking class together: we haven’t done this yet but it’s a resolution for 2023!

There you have it! Anything you’d like to include?
