10 Things I’m Thankful for this Year

I feel like every year most of my “10 things” are always the same. So while of course I’m thankful for my family and friends, I’m going to try either pick less obvious things, or elaborate more specifically on why I’m thankful for things.

+ Avery : My daughter will always be top of my list for basically anything- but especially when it comes to what I’m thankful for. I am SO thankful to have a healthy, happy, thriving baby girl. And beyond that, I’m SO thankful that she has family who adore her.

+ Health : Having been more sick this past year than I have in probably my entire life, thanks to Avery bringing home all sorts of fun things, every day I get through without a runny nose is a HUGE success to me. I’ve learned to not take my health for granted more than ever before!

+ Nourishing relationships with family and friends : So I combined both family & friends into this one LOL. But I’m thankful that over the past year, I feel like I’ve done a better job being intentional with my time spent with my family and friends. And I feel like my relationships have gotten better because of it. I’m thankful that I was given opportunities to spend more quality time with friends and family, bringing me even closer to those I care about.

+ Work: Is this weird to be thankful for? I truly love my job and am thankful that I have a job I love and a job that challenges me and allows me to grow and feel productive and have control over my schedule (to a certain point!) I’m also extremely thankful to work for someone who appreciates me and respects me, and quite honestly feels more like family than someone I work for/with.

+ Disneyland : Bob Iger in the houuuussseeeee (iykyk)!!! I’m thankful to have the opportunity to have an annual pass to Disneyland and that is something I will always be thankful for. Especially after having spent a year in Florida without it! But more than anything, I’m thankful that I get to create memories and share this special place with my daughter and allow her the opportunity to grow up on Disney trips, the way I did as a kid.

+ Club 33: Okay so I know this should technically probably go under Disneyland, but imo, it deserves it’s own bullet point. And I need to shout out a family member of mine for making it happen- CAITLIN! Thank you!!! Club 33 has been a bucket list item for me for so long and was honestly something I never expected to come to fruition, with it being such an exclusive club. I got to check it off my bucket list this year and I’ll never get over it or forget it. It was so special and I will be forever thankful that I got to go and share an amazing dinner celebrating one of the most amazing women I know.

+ Hobbies : I’ve spent more time on hobbies this past year, which has really brought me a lot of happiness. I started scrapbooking for Avery and absolutely love it (will share more on that later)! I’m thankful to have little hobbies that bring me happiness like reading, scrapbooking, blogging, DIY’ing our Halloween costumes, party planning, etc. I feel like it’s so nice and important to have fun “little nothings” (as I call them)- things that don’t have a due date or a goal/milestone in mind. Just little nothings that bring you personal happiness without being based on anyone or anything else. Scrapbooking has been an especially good outlet for me because I get to be creative and just glue things in a book without necessarily having a plan lol.

+ Making memories/starting traditions : More and more, I realize that I’m more thankful to have memories than physical gifts or mementoes. I’m beyond thankful for all the fun we’ve had this year making memories with Avery, from Disney trips to zoo trips, to little trips to the pumpkin patch this fall, having the time together is so meaningful to me.

+ Home : I’m thankful I have a safe, cozy place to call home and a place where I look forward to being at the end of the day.

+ Me, Myself, & I : Can I get an AMEN for that?!?! I don’t think I’ve actually ever told myself that I’m thankful for me, but I am! This year has been filled with a lot of changes for me personally and I think I’ve done a pretty good job navigating them and keeping the ship (so to speak) afloat. So this year, I’m pretty damn thankful for my hard work and adaptability to change, and the openness I’ve learned to have when it comes to facing adversity. I’m also thankful that I’ve managed better boundaries for myself and no longer feel pressured to be here or there, to respond to a text right away, etc.

Well, there you have it. What are you thankful for this year?
