This weekend we bought some chains and finally took a road trip to Yosemite National Park. It was a 5 hour drive from our home in Los Angeles and we’ve been trying to plan a weekend to go to the snow, Big Bear, Mammoth, Yosemite, etc all winter but haven’t had the time. That is, till this weekend!
I’d been to Yosemite before, in the summer, for a family trip where we spent a week in a cabin, hiking, chasing deer, and looking for bears (my uncle- not me). But I had never been in the winter. So when I saw a Groupon deal for a hotel in Yosemite and realized there would be snow there, it was the perfect combination for the perfect trip!
So a couple things about me, I absolutely loathe being in the cold but somehow when there’s snow involved I completely forget I’m cold and get lost in the scenery and the change of pace. .not to mention the “warm up” you feel while hiking 2,700 feet up a mountain, I did not for one second feel like it was 19 degrees outside.
First thing we did after arriving was drive around the park to check out all the amazing scenery, take some pictures, and check out the places where we would hike the following day; more on this later, but for now enjoy some shots of our first day 🙂
Look at all the snow and ice! It was an absolutely breathtaking trip. I may actually prefer Yosemite during the winter over summer, it was that beautiful that the girl who prefers spending her time at the beach and in the heat would rather spend time in the below freezing snow!
Stay tuned for more on our trip and Happy Monday friends!
xoxo,
Amanda
Like you, I’m not the biggest fan of the cold but the snow makes it bearable. Love your pictures – especially the one with the icicles!
