*by hot take, I just mean my current take
So I’ve had a love/hate relationship with social media lately. It’s just felt like everything on social media is so negative and sad lately and I’ve found that it’s really bummed me out and actually made me angry at times. The past two months I’ve really just taken a step back a bit. I did learn about the “mute” feature on Instagram and that’s been a bit of a game changer for sure lol.
I first noticed this attitude shift a few months ago, where I made it a resolution to only be on my phone if I had blog content or links to post in real time. Other than that, I’m usually only on my phone at night after both my kids have gone to sleep or during downtime at work. You may have noticed, but a lot of my posts have not actually been in “real time.” If we go to Disneyland, I’ve been posting late that night after my kids are asleep and/or days later and to be honest that really just stemmed from the fact that I wasn’t excited to open my phone right away in fear of the first thing I see being some negative headline about another shooting and/or whatever insane political story is being spun that week and then that sadness or emotion taking over the actual happiness and joy that I was feeling in real life. Because of that I really just started enjoying the days and activities and then once my kids were asleep, I found myself better ready to put together a post of our day while also being ready to mentally prepare/battle/ ignore whatever BS came across my feed.
The point of this was really to say, I’ve noticed a shift in the way I use social media and I’m wondering if you feel that shift as well? Anyways, that’s my thought of the day!
