To me, a trend is basically something that might be really popular right now but you know for certain, won’t be popular in a few months. Trends apply to all facets of life; home decor, fashion, skin care, fitness routines, anything you can really think of!

I’ve never been one to really follow trends. If something becomes popular and I actually like it and think I’ll like it longterm, then sure, I’ll give it a whirl. But if I know that I’m not going to love it next week or next month, it’s a hard pass for me. And that’s the thing that actually bothers me about “trends.” Why do so many people jump on board with something just because mainstream media, or social media, says it’s popular?

One said trend that recently literally gave me the ick every time I saw it- the jelly ballet flat thing? Like what was that about? Literally hideous to me and looked terrible no matter what type of outfit the person was wearing with them. Burn them all please, hard PASS for me.

Another one? The baggy, huge denim jeans thing that is going around? I can’t handle it. And maybe it’s more or less because I know I would drown in any type of oversized pant in that way, but I cringe when I see girls in these huge garbage can pairs of pants. I don’t get it?

I feel like I’m being really negative, but I really am quite confused why everyone is going along with these most recent trends.

Another big trend that is consistently changing- nail styles. Coffin shape was in for a while, then idk what the names even are but how do some of ya’ll function with these LONG ASS NAILS?!? Please explain.

I’ve never had acrylic nails and have never had long nails EVER. I’ve always loved my nails short and square shaped. Simple and not at all distracting or annoying for me to write, type, etc. Safe to say I’ll never subscribe to any type of nail trend, that’s for sure. I like functionality way too much, and plus, having children and changing diapers really makes you need all hands on deck without the chance of stabbing your kid with a giant claw.

I can’t even confidently tell you what the seasons biggest trends are because I literally have no idea. Maybe some of you can leave some in the comments for discussion!

I guess one thing I’ve seen going around is lime washing walls in your home? While I haven’t personally tried this one out, I think in some cases it works really well and looks great, and in others, I’ve seen it come out terrible. Although I think this might end up being a longterm type of decor decision rather than a trend, only time will tell! Thank God wallpaper isn’t coming back.
