Books for 2019

Now, if you’ve read my 2019 Resolutions post, then you know one of my resolutions for this year is to finish 1 book every 2 months. That’ll have me finishing at least 6 books for the year… and that already sounds daunting!

Right off the bat I have some books (a few I’ve had on my nightstand for wayyy longer than I’d like to admit) I’m looking forward to reading but am also looking for some good recommendations you might have!

Below are the books I’ve already got lined up, in the order I plan on reading them in:

  1. Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis: I bought this on my tablet to read as my sister and I jetted off to Kentucky to be with family and I have such a hard time putting it down! I actually finished it this week!
  2. Shook One: Anxiety Playing Tricks on Me by Charlamagne Tha God: So Joey is a big fan of listening to podcasts and watching interviews while we sit in traffic or are driving literally anywhere. With all the driving we did over the holidays, one podcast we listened too was one where Charlamagne Tha God (a radio personality) discussed with Joe Rogan his new book. He was explaining why he wrote the book and all the things he deals with as he trys to outsmart his own anxiety. He has what he calls “irrational anxiety” and as he was explaining it, I looked at Joey and said “Oh my God, that’s what I have.” I immediately knew I had to get the book and can’t wait to start reading it.
  3. The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls: This one I bought over summer for reading by the river and I haven’t finished it yet! And now I’m so wrapped up in the two books I’ve listed above that I’m prolonging finishing this one!
  4. A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson: Okay so this is embarrassing. I bought this book for the plane ride and for reading when I moved to Miami, FL nearly 3 years ago!!! Aaaaannnddd, I’m on Chapter 5. So that went really well. I’m planing on restarting this book and finishing it all the way through before reading anything else!

Now those are my top 4 books I’ve got to finish throughout the year! I need two more to hit my goal! Any recommendations?

  1. The Glass Castle is a great one. I loved it. I actually read that one out loud the entire time while reading because I was reading it to my husband at bedtime, so we could ‘read’ it at the same time. (I’m a faster reader than he is.)

    • That’s genius!!!! I should do that with Joey! He hates reading and I always end up just giving him a synopsis of the books! It’d be so much easier to read out loud! I’m on page 87 right now! I’m really liking it so far, what a childhood the author had!!!

  2. AWESOME list, Amanda! I loved The Glass Castle- can’t wait to hear what you think. I have heard so much hype around “Girl Wash your face” I need to just pull the trigger & read it already! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  3. 2 of my favorites recently (and by recently, I mean that I’ve read in the past 2 years) are The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella and Belle Weather by Celia Rivenbark. I was giggling throughout both.
