The Miami Beach Edition

With my aunt and uncle visiting a couple weeks ago, we ended up staying at their hotel quite a bit, which gave us some time to explore and get some insider information, so to speak.

The beach front resorts out in Miami are absolutely stunning and it had never occurred to me that you don’t have to be actually staying at the hotel to take advantage of the benefits. So ever since then, we’ve been hitting the beach near resort locations.

Here’s why:

  • Less crowds: Most people don’t realize that the beach in it’s entirety is public, so most people stay towards South Beach and more “public” areas. But you’re totally allowed to set up your own towels & chairs right in front of the hotel’s “area.” By area, I mean the space they take up with their chair & umbrella rentals, which are out of control expensive if you’re not staying at the hotel.
  • Access to their bars: Most of the bars in resorts are for hotel guests only. But if you order from the concierge located on the beach (where they rent the chairs), you can take advantage of the bars & restaurants inside, just ask for a menu and they’ll deliver it straight to where you’re sitting.
  • Location: Most hotels actually hold the nicest areas of the beach itself. Think less rocky, softer sand, etc.
  • Crowd Control: Okay, so I’m not trying to be rude here or anything but these are the facts. South Beach has it’s reputation for a reason. Most the hotels located near South Beach are not that expensive, so the crowds they attract are much different. Let alone the fact that South Beach is a pretty established party scene (you’re guaranteed to run into more than one group of over intoxicated people). The resorts I recommend checking out are a bit more north of this area, where the rent to stay is much, much higher, crowds are a bit older (i.e.: not college students on spring break), and people are either there for vacation/relaxation or work. There isn’t too much nonsense going around which I absolutely LOVE. I’d like to walk around the beach without be whistled at, you know?

My absolute FAVORITE hotels so far, & definetly worth checking out are The Fontainebleau Miami Beach and The Miami Beach Edition hotels.

I use TripAdvisor quite a bit when we’re traveling to look up certain spots and hotels, AND just saw that they are running a $1500 Getaway Giveaway! I entered, if you’d like to also enter, just click the link 🙂 It ends November 20th, so keep that in mind!

  1. Whenever I think of Miami, I can’t help but to think of that Will Smith song “Welcome to Miami” lol of all the times I’ve been to Florida, I have yet to explore that little piece of paradise. Your cover up is the cutest! Where is it from?

    • Oh my gosh, I do too! I used to sing that song all the time when I first moved here lol it’s so funny! And so much of what he sings about is 100% true! It’s from Urban Outfitters! I got it last summer I believe! Thank you 🙂

  2. Your pictures make me so jealous! Here I am, stuck in the dreary, rainy Pacific Northwest… And, no, don’t tell me how lucky we are to have rain as so many other parts of the country are separate drought. my soul longs for sunshine or snow and nothing in between will work.

  3. Miami is home for me! The first time I found a quiet, not crowded area on South Beach, I almost squealed in excitement. Sometimes you just want to be on the beach without beer bottles blurring your view. It’s truly a different experience when you find those parts. Your shots are stunning!
